## Go support reaches general availability

AWS announced general availability of the Lambda Durable Execution SDK for Go on October 15, 2026. The SDK supports multi-step applications using Lambda durable functions. AWS lists infrastructure automation, deployment rollouts with approval gates, and AI-model pipelines that pause for human review as example use cases. According to AWS, Lambda durable functions automatically checkpoint progress and can pause execution for up to a year while waiting for external events. The Go SDK provides steps for progress tracking, callbacks for human and agent participation, durable invocation for function chaining, and waits for suspending workflows. ## Familiar deployment, workflow-specific tooling

AWS says developers add the SDK to a Go module with `go get` and deploy their function as a single static binary on Lambda’s `provided.al2023` runtime. The packaging approach therefore remains familiar to Go developers already using that runtime.

The announcement also describes two development tools:

- `durabletest`, a package for testing complete workflows locally without network access or AWS credentials.
- `durablelint`, an analyzer intended to catch code that could break a workflow when execution resumes.

These tools address complementary concerns: exercising workflows before deployment and identifying resume-related code risks. AWS does not present the analyzer as a guarantee of workflow correctness. ## What to check before rollout

For teams writing deployment or infrastructure automation in Go, the practical benefit is keeping approval gates and long waits in workflow code while relying on Lambda’s checkpointing rather than custom progress tracking. Approval workflows still warrant explicit design decisions about who may approve each action and how the application validates that approval.

This announcement concerns general availability of the Go SDK. For deployment planning, AWS directs customers to its regional-capabilities and Lambda pricing pages for Lambda durable functions. Teams should check both for their intended deployment rather than treating SDK availability as confirmation of support in a particular Region or of a particular cost.
